JOHN DEERE 1820 AND 1830 AIR HOE DRILLS AND COMPATIBLE MODEL MACHINES
Manutec has two replacement tyres (3 inch and 4 inch) that will directly fit onto the John Deere 1820 and 1830 rims/steel drums.
These tyres are far more durable than the original John Deere tyres and are designed to give longer life in hard rocks and stubble.
Codes are 21PW100GFSD (4 INCH TYRE) and 21PW80GFSD (3 INCH TYRE)
The advantages of the Manutec tyres are;
- Direct fitment onto John Deere Rims
- Stubble and Stone resistant tyre (Solid Rubber)
- Value for money
When fitting the Manutec tyres ensure that the tyres are pre-warmed overnight or left in the sun on a hot day. Ideally the tyres should feel quite hot and they should be allowed enough time so that the internal temperature of the tyre is also hot. This will make the tyres more flexible and much easier to fit. Definitely do not try to fit the tyres on a cold morning or leave them in a freezing shed overnight before fitting as most likely you will damage the tyres and make fitting a very difficult process.
If your gangs have reached end of life and are considered beyond repair then a Manutec Air Hoe Drill conversion is an economical way to extend the life of your machine. Manutec has standard parts available for most common spacing widths. Do not confuse the standard Manutec Gang Conversions, these not suitable for Air Hoe Drills. One important note is that Manutec Air Hoe Drill conversions have been designed to be cross compatible with all of the North American Brands of Air Hoe Drills, so the conversion is not going to be a perfect match and some small modifications may be required. Similarly the shape and dimensions of the Manutec tyre is designed to replace both the 3″ and 4″ tyres and is made of high durability rubber. There is a generic product on this website that gives more detail on Manutec Air Hoe Drill conversions.
I do not believe we have fitted a set of Coulters yet to an 1820/1830, but if required it should be possible.
JOHN DEERE 1870 (CONSERVA PAK) PRECISION AIR DRILL
Manutec has long history of replacing and supplying new wheels for the old CONSERVA PAK brand. Since the introduction of the John Deere Conserva Pak and then 1870 model we have further increased our range of wheel and tyre options available. Once John Deere took over the manufacturing of the Conserva Pak, Manutec made the decision to upgrade from the older style Conserva Pak press wheel to a new design that incorporates a low maintenance agri-bearing. The new design is much simpler to fit, is much easier to maintain and has a much longer bearing life. The Manutec wheel is a direct fit onto the 1870 and all bushes and dustcovers are included in one easy to design kit. We also recommend that owners of Conserva Paks with the older style press wheels upgrade to the newer model. There is a very small modification required to increase the axle size from 1/2″ to 5/8″ (16mm). Manutec can supply the kit plus a new axle bolt. The tyres used on the older model wheels are also compatible with the new model, so existing tyres can be re-used if in good condition or kept as spares for future use.
The original Conserva Pak machines had two different tyre shapes (80mm wedge and 70mm Vee) and two different rubber compositions (Semi-Pneumatic and High Durability Semi-Solid). Both of these tyres are quite aggressive and can be prone to bulldozing in very light sands or very muddy conditions, so Manutec also introduced a 100mm round high flotation tyre to the range available. The true diameter of the original Conserva Pak tyres and also the new 1870 tyres is 16″ (outer tyre diameter). However the original Conserva Pak rim is the same size as the standard Manutec 15″ rim. This means that any of Manutec’s 15″ diameter range of tyres is also able to be used. This gives John Deere 1870 owners a large range of tyre options to choose from once they changeover to Manutec wheels, this is handy for those wanting to change to a split or spread row seeding system.
Below is a picture of one of the older Conserva Pak rims with a wedge tyre fitted. You will notice that our rim has the Conserva Pak brand on it. That is because Manutec made and exported these to Conserva Pak in Saskatchewan. Once John Deere took over this relationship ended and we removed the branding from the wheels.
Below is a picture of the new wheel with a round tyre fitted, including dust covers and bushes.
Also below is a Video of a John Deere 1870 with the 100mm Round tyres fitted.
We also have a number of John Deere 1870 customers who want an even wider press and who like the style of the wider tyres used on other North American brands like the Seed Hawk. The widest tyre that can be fitted into the existing yoke without modification is 120mm. So our range of 120mm wheels can also be fitted on to the 1870. This option has been particularly popular with farmers in Northern USA and Canada. A picture of this option is below as well as a picture of one of 120mm wide paired row tyres fitted to a John Deere Conserva Pak
Manutec can supply tyres that are similar to the original John Deere 1870 tyres or alternatively more durable tyres are available. These are designed to give longer life in dry seeding hard rocks and stubble. Additionally we can supply softer Hi_Flex tyres for operating in sticky soil conditions. We also be have a range of high sidewall tyres that can be used to reduce rooster tailing in lighter sandy soils.
The advantages of the Manutec system are:
- tyres tailored to your farming conditions
- direct fitment (no modification required)
- zero maintenance
- all parts fully replaceable, allowing for lower through life costs
- value for money
We have also assisted John Deere 1870 owners to fit twin heavy duty coulters to their machines. This is not a straightforward process however once fitted the Coulters make the 1870 work so much better in stubble and trash.
JOHN DEERE 1860 AND 1890 SINGLE DISC SEEDERS AND COMPATIBLE MODEL MACHINES
Manutec has three replacement Mud Razor Gauge Wheels (3 inch and 4 inch) that will directly fit onto the John Deere 1860 and 1890 machines. The Mud Razor gauge wheels for the 1860 and 1890 machines has a unique steel scraper built into the face of the tyre, durable and stubble resistant materials and spokes to allow for flow through.
The advantage of the Mud Razor system are:
- Handles heavy soil and significantly reduces plugging and blockages.
- Keeps the disc clean, improving disc cutting efficiency
- Stubble and Rock resistant
- Direct Fitment
- More adjustment than original manufacturers parts
- Zero Maintenance
Manutec also has a range of replacement discs and closer wheels for the 1860, 1890 and compatible machines. This includes a thicker disc option for farmers in abrasive soils.
JOHN DEERE MAXEMERGE SERIES TWIN DISC PLANTERS AND COMPATIBLE MODEL MACHINES
Manutec has A replacement Mud Razor Gauge Wheel (4 inch) that will directly fit onto the John Deere MaxEmerge machines. The Mud Razor gauge wheels for the MaxEmerge machines has a unique hardened rubber face built into the face of the tyre and spokes to allow for flow through. The main part of the gauge wheel tyre is made of a softer duro rubber compound allowing it to flex and release mud. This combination helps to keep both the disc and the tyre clean in heavy conditions. We are not able to use our standard Mud Razor tyres with the inbuilt steel scraper as they are too heavy and the MaxEmerge components cannot handle the extra weight.
The advantage of the Mud Razor system are:
- Handles heavy soil and significantly reduces plugging and blockages.
- Keeps the disc clean, improving disc cutting efficiency
- Direct Fitment
- Zero Maintenance
Manutec also has a range of replacement discs and closer wheels for the 1860, 1890 and compatible machines.
