This is a generic code, more specific information on assemblies is available by clicking through the menus until you find the assembly that you need.ย  Alternatively if you use the enquire now button above one of our staff will call you give you an accurate quote and to discuss whichย discs and which hubs are most suitable for your conditions and whether this is the appropriate coulter assembly for your needs.

If you are not sure about whether your machine can be fitted with coulters or if you want some advice on the best discs to use in your soils then please give us a call.

Below is a link to a short video that shows the Manutec Zero Maintenance Heavy Duty Coulters working on a Horwood Bagshaw PSS machine.

The Manutec Heavy Duty Coulter assemblies are designed for operating in heavier stubble loads where a higher cutting force is required.ย  The assemblies are available configured as both twins (configured to your machine row spacing and single.

The Manutec Heavy Duty Coulter assemblies are normally fitted with fully sealed Agri-Hubs, however a variety of taper roller bearing hubs are also available if required.ย  The coulters are capable of in excess of 300lbs pressure.ย  Manutec has available a wide range of coulter discs available to suit most soil types.ย  18 inch coulter discs are fitted as standard however 16″ and 20″ discs are available.ย  All discs and hubs used of a standard Australian HT (5×107.95mm) stud pattern, meaning spare parts are readily available throughout Australia as this is the most common pattern disc used on Australian made coulters.

This coulter uses a spring to generate downforce and can be used on machines the raise and lower.ย  For stationary height machines a hydraulic coulter system is required.

Coulters need to be fitted on to a new 4″ toolbar across the front of the machine (can also be fitted to Shearer diamond bars).ย  Manutec has a range of tool bar accessories available to help this process.ย  When fitting coulters on the machine it is advisable to leave a minimum of around 12″ behind the back of the disc and the front most point of the tyne on the front row.ย  This will help trash flow.ย  Another word of advice fitting coulters is never easy, most bars were never designed to have coulters fitted, so there will be a bit of head scratching.ย  In the gallery we have some pictures to give you some ideas.ย  However once fitted coulters will make your air seeder bar so much more efficient.ย  Coulters not only improve trash flow, they also reduce clods, reduce soil throw, reduce wear on points and reduce fuel consumption.

We generally recommend a fluted disc for all soil conditions where a narrow cut is required.ย  The advantage of the fluted discs is their ability to maintain a high disc velocity, which is important for reducing hair pinning and also for keeping the discs sharp.ย  We also have turbo style and cross wave discs which will also have high disc velocities.ย  When a wider cut is required a range of wavey discs are available with varying cutting widths.ย  For low soil throw requirements plain discs are available, however these can stall in heavy soil conditions.ย  Scalloped disc options are also available for use in heavy soil conditions.ย  In heavy soil conditions maintaining a high disc velocity is also important as the high velocity assists the disc to dislodge clay.ย  The standard disc thickness for 16″ and 18″ discs is 4mm.ย  In highly abrasive soils (common in Western Australia) thicker 5mm discs and 20″ discs can be used.ย  We only recommend the thicker and larger diameter discs in abrasive soils so as to extend disc life, in non-abrasive soils the thicker discs require more down force to cut effectively and are more likely to go blunt.ย  In some ways discs that are wearing down is a good thing as it means they are working efficiently and staying sharp.ย  If they are not wearing down they may be pushing rather than cutting and hair pinning the trash.

If for some reason you are cracking discs (this is very rare with Manutec discs) we have available a 4mm helper plate that re-enforces the centre of the disc around the stud holes.

The twin coulter can be set up on a range of different spacings from 9″ out.ย  For less than 9″ spacings then a staggered pattern may be required or alternatively the Manutec medium coulters may be a better option.ย  A single heavy duty coulter option is also available for wider spacings or if single coulters are preferred over twins.

The Manutec coulters can be pinned up and chained up when not in use or it can be quickly removed if required.

A range of hub options are available including fully sealed zero maintenance agrihubs, greaseable slimline and standard tapered roller bearing hubs.ย  Our advice is to use the Zero Maintenance Agri-Hubs

Coulter side cheeks are also available if required.ย  These are not normally required for most coulter systems.

Manutec carries a full range of spare parts for all products sold.

If you click below under more information there is a coulter disc selection guide to help you better understand discs and how they work.

So why insist on Manutec products ?

  1. 100% Australian Owned for nearly 30 years and we intend to be here to support our customers for the next 30 years.ย  We first started working with your grandfather and then his sons and daughters and now his grandchildren
  2. Large range of options to suit all farming, conditions we do not believe in a one fit for all conditions.
  3. Our aftermarket products are not copies, they are a different product that is designed to solve problems on the original manufacturerโ€™s machinery.ย  We fix other brands issues.
  4. We listen to our customers. The majority of our products are a result of listening to our customers.ย  We understand that Australia is not another state of the USA.
  5. Once you purchase a Manutec product we set you up as an account customer and maintain a full purchase history with you so as to make purchasing the correct spares a quick and easy process.
  6. We back up our products and will always answer your phone calls.ย  We run a tiered sales and support system to ensure that any enquiries are handled by the most appropriate person to quickly provide the parts that you need or assist you to solve any operational or maintenance issues.
  7. All of our products are repairable, and we are working hard to implement the Zero Maintenance philosophy across the complete range of our products.ย  Where possible we source the best quality components from the best quality manufacturers.
  8. We carry a full range of spare parts for every product and most spare parts leave same day or next day.ย  Inย  most cases we have parts (some upgraded to the latest spec) for products that are 30 years old and if we donโ€™t we will have a work around solution. Most customers are blown away when they visit us and see how many parts and how much stock we hold.
  9. Our products are used by Australiaโ€™s leading manufacturers of farm equipment, especially those that care about their customers, more than they care about cutting costs.
  10. On-site in Adelaide we have Rapid Prototyping (3D CAD and Printing) and CNC Machining Centres so we can quickly design and build new parts.
  11. We field test all new design prototypes for as long as it takes to get the product farm ready for Australian conditions.

So what should you be wary of ?

  1. When you are buying equipment from overseas, consider how that machine is going to be supported when you have breakdowns and the time delay in getting parts and the cost of those parts.
  2. The above also applies to some โ€œfly by nightโ€ local companies.ย  Are they going to be able to deliver in the first place and will they be around when you need parts ?ย  Will they answer your phone when you need them ?
  3. Beware of manufacturers both local and overseas that have a one fit suits all approach to designing farm equipment.ย  Australian farms are very different from East to West and from North to South and very different to North American and European farms.
  4. Beware of Australian manufacturers that use componentry from overseas that could be sourced in Australia.ย  There is a good chance those components will not be available when you need them and that the cost will be high.
