Inframe Press Wheel Assembly Complete with 15 or 18 inch Tyres, Wheels-Slimline Agri Hub
This is a generic code, more specific information on assemblies is available by clicking through the menus until you find the assembly that you need. Alternatively, if you use the enquire now button above one of our staff will call you to discuss which size wheels, which tyre profiles and which hubs are most suitable for your conditions and whether this is the appropriate assembly for your needs.
Because of the large range of wheel sizes, tyre profiles and compounds available, not to mention different swivel options and wheels set up it is a lot quicker to read the generic information and the tyre information guide and then give us a call. We know what questions to ask you about your farm to help you make the correct decision. We believe that every farm is different, and it is important to understand what is going to work best on your farm. We can also discuss your machinery, and which type of assembly is best.
Questions we will ask:
- Machinery Measurements and Tyne Characteristics
- Soil Types (Sandy/Non-Wetting Sands/Sandy Loams/Loam Clay/Sand over Clay/Red Clay/Grey Clay/Black Soils/Granite Soils)
- Rock Types (Limestone/Granite/Iron Stone/Sandstone)
- Trash Levels
- Spacing Widths
- Single Row/Double/Split Row/Paired Row/spread Seed)
- Wet/Dry Seeding Ratios
- Cropping Area (Hectares)
- Use of Irrigation
- Crop Types and Percentages (Pasture/Hay/Oats/Canola/Legumes/Wheat/Barley/Chickpeas/Peas/Beans)
- Summer/Winter Crops or Both
- Sheep or Cattle also on the property
To order this assembly you must first speak to a Manutec representative who will obtain the dimensions necessary to correctly configure this assembly to your air seeder bar.
This assembly comes fitted with either a 15″,16″ or 18″ press wheel and a zero maintenance Agrihub.
Normally Semi-Pneumatic or Hi-Flex tyres are fitted to this type of assembly as they have a better mud shedding capability, which will improve overall depth control and consistency.
The adjustable seed tube seen in the picture is an optional accessory. When the seed tube is fitted the assembly becomes a basic parallelogram. The seed tube is adjustable to suit different seeding depths. The fitting of the seed tube is very popular with farmers that crop a lot of small seed crops as this set up enable the seed depth to be set consistently shallow. Larger seeds can also be used with the seed tube.
Assembly – Inframe Press Wheels are most widely used where there is a need to put the press wheel right in behind the tyne. They are also a popular method of adding a rear mounted swivel press wheel capability to either a new or an existing bar where a seed boot capability is required in front of the press wheel. The popularity of these units is due to the fact that they give a cost-effective means of either getting the press wheel in close behind the tyne without many of the unpleasant side affects normally associated with tyne mounts or parallelograms. They are also popular for sowing small seed where the ability to sow off the press wheel gives much better depth control. The adjustable nature of the wheel and optional seed tube also provides a great deal of flexibility to seed placement and where the pressure can be applied. The single swivel arm design ensures that the unit is capable of clearing most obstacles and that a very even pressure is maintained across the width of the machine. All units come standard configured as a swivel or following unit. The units can be configured for low pressure (15kg) or high pressure (40kg), however most units are run at an average pressure of between 20 and 25kg. A choice of 15, 16 or 18 inch wheel sizes is available with a large number of tyre options.
This type of assembly is used to its best advantage when very precise depth control is required for seed germination or in conditions where the existing machine is giving a highly variable seed depth. This type of system is ideal for canola and other small seeds that are depth sensitive.
One risk of this type of assembly is that they may impinge trash flow in heavy trash environments.
The mounting bracket for the inframe assembly has been designed to fit either to the left or right of the tine bracket and has a very narrow footprint. The bracket is most commonly fitted to 4″ frame, however 3″ is an option.
As far as price goes this is one of the most expensive ways to fit press wheels to an air seeder bar. This is due to running one assembly for every tyne, the operational requirements of fitting the assembly close to a tine inside the frame of a machine and the addition of a seed tube (heavily coated in Tungsten) adds further to the cost.
For all Manutec products we carry a full range of spare parts for every component used in all of our products.
For a press wheel tyres fact sheet, scroll down to More Information and click on Press Wheels Info Sheet and a pdf containing detailed information on press wheel tyre selection will be downloaded. There is also a small brochure attached.
Inframe assemblies can also be done with greaseable integral hubs. They are also available in either Ford or Holden Lazy Hubs if required. Although all 3 of these older style wheel hubs is becoming increasingly uncommon.
Note all tyre and wheel sizes are nominal and when determining tyre and wheel size we use the outside diameter of the tyre, so a 15″ Manutec Press Wheel with a tyre fitted has an overall diameter of 15″. This diameter varies slightly across the range depending on the shape of the tyre.
So why insist on Manutec products ?
- 100% Australian Owned for nearly 30 years and we intend to be here to support our customers for the next 30 years. We first started working with your grandfather and then his sons and daughters and now his grandchildren
- Large range of options to suit all farming, conditions we do not believe in a one fit for all conditions.
- Our aftermarket products are not copies, they are a different product that is designed to solve problems on the original manufacturer’s machinery. We fix other brands issues.
- We listen to our customers. The majority of our products are a result of listening to our customers. We understand that Australia is not another state of the USA.
- We back up our products and will always answer your phone calls.
- All of our products are repairable, and we are working hard to implement the Zero Maintenance philosophy across the complete range of our products. Where possible we source the best quality components from the best quality manufacturers.
- We carry a full range of spare parts for every product and most spare parts leave same day or next day. In most cases we have parts (some upgraded to the latest spec) for products that are 30 years old and if we don’t, we will have a work around solution. Most customers are blown away when they visit us and see how many parts and how much stock we hold.
- Our products are used by Australia’s leading manufacturers of farm equipment, especially those that care about their customers, more than they care about cutting costs.
- On-site Rapid Prototyping (3D Print) and Machining Centres
- We field test all new design prototypes for as long as it takes to get the product farm ready for Australian conditions.
So what should you be wary of ?
- When you are buying equipment from overseas, consider how that machine is going to be supported when you have breakdowns and the time delay in getting parts and the cost of those parts.
- The above also applies to some “fly by night” local companies. Are they going to be able to deliver in the first place and will they be around when you need parts ? Will they answer your phone when you need them ?
- Beware of manufacturers both local and overseas that have a one fit suits all approach to designing farm equipment. Australian farms are very different from East to West and from North to South and very different to North American and European farms.
- Beware of Australian manufacturers that use componentry from overseas that could be sourced in Australia. There is a good chance those components will not be available when you need them and that the cost will be high.
