This is a generic code, more specific information on assemblies is available by clicking through the menus until you find the assembly that you need.  Alternatively if you use the enquire now button above one of our staff will call you to give you a quote and to discuss which tyres are most suitable for your conditions and whether this is the appropriate assembly for your needs.

Please note this gang assembly also requires gang mounting arms unless you already have compatible gang mounting arms fitted to your machine.  Also if you already have an existing set of old and worn out gangs on your air seeder bar Manutec offers an economical gang conversion that can be easily retrofitted to your existing set of gangs to extend their life.

Because of the large range of wheel sizes, tyre profiles and compounds available, not to mention different swivel options and wheels set up it is a lot quicker to read the generic information and the tyre information guide and then give us a call.  We know what questions to ask you about your farm to help you make the correct decision.  We believe that every farm is different, and it is important to understand what is going to work best on your farm.  We can also discuss your machinery, and which type of assembly is best.

Questions we will ask:

  1. Machinery Measurements and Tyne Characteristics
  2. Soil Types (Sandy/Non-Wetting Sands/Sandy Loams/Loam Clay/Sand over Clay/Red Clay/Grey Clay/Black Soils/Granite Soils)
  3. Rock Types (Limestone/Granite/Iron Stone/Sandstone)
  4. Trash Levels
  5. Spacing Widths
  6. Single Row/Double/Split Row/Paired Row/spread Seed)
  7. Wet/Dry Seeding Ratios
  8. Cropping Area (Hectares)
  9. Use of Irrigation
  10. Crop Types and Percentages (Pasture/Hay/Oats/Canola/Legumes/Wheat/Barley/Chickpeas/Peas/Beans)
  11. Summer/Winter Crops or Both
  12. Sheep or Cattle also on the property

The Manutec Gang Assembly is a tried and tested means of fitting press wheels to the rear of the bar. The modern gang comes into its own due to its versatility in being able to be quickly attached or released to the rear of a bar. Many machines already have harrows in some form fitted and for those owners wanting the versatility of press wheels or harrows or nothing in a quick detach unit, then gangs are a good option.  The gang units can also be easily removed and taken to the shed for maintenance or storage out of the weather.

Gangs are also favoured buy customers wanting a more simple system with less moving parts and less bearings.

While gangs have pros they also have cons and may not be the right option for some farming conditions.  Our experienced sales staff are able to take you through all of the pros and the cons.

Gang are available in a range of standard spacings (7.2, 9,10 and 12 inch) and sizes, or can be tailored to an individual set up if required. Manutec Gangs come standard with 18 inch nylon bush press wheels running on shaft pillow blocks (flange bearings for Morris). Any of the tyres from Manutec’s 18 inch range can be selected however we normally recommend the 3 inch and above profiles in the semi-solid or solid materials, unless the customer has specific needs dictating narrower or softer tyres.  All of the Manutec wheels have a 2 piece split alloy rim that allows for tyres to changed easily if and when required.  The main reason for recommending semi-solid and solid high durability tyres is that gangs tend to be harder on tyres and a lot more side load is applied and a lot more dragging.  So soft tyres will be more prone to popping off the rims and wearing down.  From a maintenance perspective changing a tyre on a gang is not a 5 minute job.  The entire gang will need to removed and stripped down and then rebuilt.  So take our advice and choose the high durability tyres to be fitted to your gangs.

These gangs are not suitable for Air Hoe Drills.  Manutec has a specific product to suit North American brand Air Hoe Drills.

Manutec uses a non-greaseable sealed for life agri-bearing in the pillow blocks.  Our axles are all 32mm round.  Our wheel and spacer system is designed so that they will not cease up on the shaft which makes any future maintenance a lot easier.  Our spacers all lock into the wheels using a lug system, this means that each wheel acts as a drive wheel for the adjacent wheels.

For all Manutec products we carry a full range of spare parts for every component used in all of our products.  Many of our spare parts are also compatible with original Flexi-Coil 820 gangs.

For a press wheel tyres fact sheet, scroll down to More Information and click on Press Wheels Info Sheet and a pdf containing detailed information on press wheel tyre selection will be downloaded.  There is also a small brochure attached.

Note all tyre and wheel sizes are nominal and when determining tyre and wheel size we use the outside diameter of the tyre, so a 18″ Manutec Press Wheel with a tyre fitted has an overall diameter of approximately 18″.  This diameter varies slightly across the range depending on the shape of the tyre.  The wedge shaped tyres tend to be closer to 19″

So why insist on Manutec products ?

  1. 100% Australian Owned for nearly 30 years and we intend to be here to support our customers for the next 30 years.  We first started working with your grandfather and then his sons and daughters and now his grandchildren
  2. Large range of options to suit all farming, conditions we do not believe in a one fit for all conditions.
  3. Our aftermarket products are not copies, they are a different product that is designed to solve problems on the original manufacturer’s machinery.  We fix other brands issues.
  4. We listen to our customers. The majority of our products are a result of listening to our customers.  We understand that Australia is not another state of the USA.
  5. We back up our products and will always answer your phone calls.
  6. All of our products are repairable, and we are working hard to implement the Zero Maintenance philosophy across the complete range of our products.  Where possible we source the best quality components from the best quality manufacturers.
  7. We carry a full range of spare parts for every product and most spare parts leave same day or next day.  In most cases we have parts (some upgraded to the latest spec) for products that are 30 years old and if we don’t, we will have a work around solution. Most customers are blown away when they visit us and see how many parts and how much stock we hold.
  8. Our products are used by Australia’s leading manufacturers of farm equipment, especially those that care about their customers, more than they care about cutting costs.
  9. On-site Rapid Prototyping (3D Print) and Machining Centres
  10. We field test all new design prototypes for as long as it takes to get the product farm ready for Australian conditions.

So what should you be wary of ?

  1. When you are buying equipment from overseas, consider how that machine is going to be supported when you have breakdowns and the time delay in getting parts and the cost of those parts.
  2. The above also applies to some “fly by night” local companies.  Are they going to be able to deliver in the first place and will they be around when you need parts ?  Will they answer your phone when you need them ?
  3. Beware of manufacturers both local and overseas that have a one fit suits all approach to designing farm equipment.  Australian farms are very different from East to West and from North to South and very different to North American and European farms.
  4. Beware of Australian manufacturers that use componentry from overseas that could be sourced in Australia.  There is a good chance those components will not be available when you need them and that the cost will be high.
